One-Term President: APC Flays ADC “Idle Talk”, Says Nigerians Trust Tinubu

The Lagos state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC , has rebuffed the remark by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi to the effect that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be a one-term president, as he would not be returned to office in 2027 because, according to him, Tinubu has performed abysmally.

“That the President is already speaking of remaining in office till 2031 betrays a mindset that dismisses re-election as mere formalities, rather than a constitutional requirement to present his score card to the people. But re-election is not automatic, and President Tinubu has not earned a second term,” Abdullahi said in a statement on Tuesday.

Responding, Lagos APC spokesperson, Mogaji Seye Oladejo said in a statement on Wednesday that Abdullahi the remark is an ‘idle talk”, saying the opposition party does not understand what it takes to rule a country like Nigeria, stressing that the ADC cannot derail the steady leadership that President Tinubu is giving the country at the moment.

The APC spokesman added that Nigerians have rejected the ADC in the recently conducted off-season  National Assembly election across the country, noting that there’s nothing to point to the fact that ADC will not be roundly defeated in the next election, as the ADC will soon ‘fizzle” into oblivion.

Oladejo:  “Their (ADC) claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will be a one-term President is nothing but idle talk from a party that has never tasted power at the centre and is unlikely to do so in this lifetime.

“It is rather convenient for a party that has no record of winning elections at the national level to begin to write imaginary scripts about the tenure of a leader whose political sagacity, track record of service, and capacity to deliver are beyond question.

“President Tinubu has only just begun the hard work of resetting Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth and progress. Nigerians are already seeing bold, people-oriented policies that lesser leaders have shied away from for decades.

“The APC government under Tinubu is laying solid foundations, step by step, for lasting transformation, while the ADC continues to prance about without roots or direction.”

Speaking on the chances of the ADC at the polls, he said, “There is absolutely nothing on ground to show that the ADC stands any chance at the polls. If indeed ‘the morning shows the day,” then the results of the recently held by-elections across the country, where the APC swept to overwhelming victory, speak volumes.

“Those victories were not only a referendum on the Tinubu government but also an overwhelming vote of confidence by Nigerians. Clearly, the ADC will do better in a circus arena than on the political rostrum. President Tinubu is not just running a government – he is consolidating a legacy that generations will reckon with.”

Recall also that a former governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El Rufai had last week accused President Tinubu of nursing a life presidency. The allegation has been denied by the presidency.
