On Workers Day, Gov Fubara, Reassures Of An End To The Prevailing Challenges

The suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, once again, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, urged the people to keep hope alive.

In a message on Workers Day, Fubara reiterated  his unflinching optimism about  light, at the end of the tunnel.

He reassured the State workforce, citizens and residents alike that  “justice, peace, and progress will take the front seat, at  the end of the present travails.

The Source reports that Governor Fubara, his Deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly were suspended from office for an initial period of six months following the declaration of State of emergency by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu ,on March 18, 2025.

In a statement issued by Nelson Chukwudi his media aide , Governor Fubara encouraged the people to remain calm ,united ,and hopeful, amidst the  political challenges of the moment.

He commended the state workforce for their resilience, and commitment to duty and development of the State, noting that their sacrifices have been the backbone of the growth and development of Rivers State.

He applauded the Workers’ deep sense of patriotism, integrity and unwavering commitment to duty.

This is  just as he lauded the President for engineering the labour reforms that heralded improvement in workers welfare ,and conducive working environment.

According to him, the theme of this years workers Day celebration–Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate” underscores the imperativeness of protecting the workers ,in the face of present  environmental and political challenges in the system.

“This theme underscores the urgent need to protect workers amid escalating environmental threats ,and socio-political uncertainties.

It is a call to prioritize occupational safety and wellbeing of workers, as essential pillars for sustainable growth.

“The efforts of the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ,in promoting climate-conscious policies that support a healthier, safer working environment nationwide is commendable”, Fubara stated.

He reaffirmed his unflinching dedication to the promotion and protection of workers’ rights and Welfare,while also calling on employers of labour to always ensure the prioritization of enhancement of working conditions of their employees.
