Despite Officials enforcing the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja by impounding cars that violated the stay at home order, Ogun state has added Dangote trucks to the list of companies and groups exempted from the COVID-19 lockdown.
The government had, apart from those on essential duties, exempted those working in financial institutions from the lockdown.
Ogun state has been reluctant to enforce the federal stay at home order citing readiness of the state to take care of the state under lockdown. After postponing the lockdown twice, the government is said to announce two days on two days off for the state stay at home program.
Now, the government is exempting Dangote trucks from the lockdown.
In a letter signed by the secretary to the state government, SSG, Tokumbo Talabi, the state insisted that they are exempting the Group because of their “essential multisectoral services”.
Tagged “To Whom It May concern”, the letter stated that “This is to confirm that Dangote Plc trucks are exempted from the restriction of movements and total lockdown of the state as a result of the corona virus (COVID-19) Pandemic. You are requested to permit the trucks move freely within the state because of essential multisectoral services the company renders to the public. Thank you”.
