Former governor of Anambra state and Presidential flag-bearer of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, Tuesday disowned a campaign application, known as ‘Peter Obi Nation’.
The LP candidate said neither he nor his party has anything to do with the app, which some people claimed is being used to advance the cause of his 2023 presidential ambition.
The new app can be downloaded from the Google Playstore.
Beside claiming to be a portal for Obi supporters, the application requires subscribers to impute sensitive personal information that could be used by criminally-minded people to target Obi supporters.
Speaking on the Urban Radio, Enugu the presidential candidate and former governor of Anambra state, denied any knowledge about the controversial application.
“I don’t know about the application. It is not from me or any campaign organization known to us. You know, people can do everything thing to pull me down, ”he said.
According to him, opponents are bent on sponsoring ethnicity and campaign of bigotry to pull him down.
“I have said this before, let us bring all the presidential candidates, about 18 of us; let us look at our background and past records. But, people are not talking about what we can offer and they are now promoting ethnicity and tribalism,” he said.
Obi reiterated that he is not an ethnic candidate, and that Nigerians should ignore all promoters of ethnicity, rather they should look at peoples’ pedigree and past records to know what they can offer.
