The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, will be a guest at the famous Chatham House. London, United Kingdom.
Date is January 16, 2023
Obi’s appearance at Chatham House follows that of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu’s appearance on Tuesday, December 5, has been mired in controversy and harsh criticisms by not a few Nigerians.
Abandoning the convention at Chatham House, Tinubu had, in an action described as embarrassing by a cross section of Nigerians, assigned a number of the questions asked from him, to members of his entourage to answer on his behalf. According to reports, the management of Chattam House said he took them unawares.
Chatham House announced the date with Obi in a tweet on Thursday. “Nigeria’s 2023 Elections: In conversation with Obi.”
“The second of our events examining @Nigeria’s 2023 elections and political developments will take place on January 16, 2023.
Given the controversy which surrounded Tinubu’s appearance, expectations of Nigerians will be very high on January 16 as many have become aware of Chatham House.
The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and that of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Dr Peter Obi, are expected to take their turns at Chatham House one after the other.
Obi, just as Tinubu, is expected to espouse on his plans to handle Nigeria’s many problems if he wins the Presidential election scheduled for February, 2023.
Aged 61 years, Obi was a two-term Governor of Anambra State. He was, also, the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2019 General Elections. He decamped from the PDP to the LP a few days to the Presidential Primary of the PDP where he was an aspirant.
Since then, nothing has remained the same. He has disrupted the political landscape of Nigeria. The LP Candidate has a cult followership amongst the youths, especially, who see him as “Nigeria’s Poster Boy.”
