The authorities of the Bayero University Kano BUK, on Friday May 9, 2025, announced the accreditation of no fewer than 53 of their academic programmes by the regulatory body, the National University Commission, NUC.
This is just as the Management of the institution lauded the efforts of Deans, Heads of Departments, Faculty members and others for the landmark achievement.
A statement issued by the Registrar, Haruna Aliyu and made available to this Magazine, informed that the full accreditation status granted to the 53 academic programmes covers a period of 5 years.
According to Aliyu, the accreditation guarantees that students admitted into the affected courses are enrolled in NUC-approved and quality-assured curricular while their certificates are also recognized for employment, further studies and national service.
The programmes accredited are in the faculties of Administration, Agriculture, Allied Health Sciences, Computing, Education, Engineering, Medicine ,Pharmacy and Science.
“Bayero University is delighted to announce the outstanding results of National Universities Commission, NUC, accreditation exercise conducted in October/November 2024.
“A total of 53 academic programmes across various faculties were evaluated, and we are proud to report that all the programmes received full accreditation status, confirming the University’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and quality assurance.
“The comprehensive accreditation covers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
“The outcome of this rigorous accreditation exercise reflects the University’s sustained investment in faculty development ,infrastructure,curriculum improvement and research advancement .
“It is a validation of our strategy to position Bayero University Kano as a premier institution of higher learning in Nigeria and beyond”, part of the state reads.
While appreciating the NUC for its diligent evaluation and support ,the University management commended staff and students for their dedication and contributions ,without which the system wouldn’t have achieved much .
