National Economic Council Gives Deadline On State Police

The idea and agitation for establishment of State Police topped agenda for discussion at Wednesday’s meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC).

At the end of the meeting, NEC set a deadline of September 9, 2024, for all states to submit their positions on the establishment of State Police.

The deadline was announced during a meeting on Wednesday chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after the meeting in the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, Acting Governor of Oyo State, Bayo Lawal, reported that out of the 36 states, four had yet to submit their positions to NEC.

Lawal stated that the remaining four states have been given the opportunity to turn in their position by Monday.

According to him, any state that refuses to comply will have no choice than to comply with anyone impose on it.
