Military Dismantles Terrorists Camps In Taraba State, Kill Two

In continuation of its operations to rid Taraba State of the presence and activities of terrorists, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigeria Army/Sector 3 of the Operation Whirl Stroke on Tuesday April 15, 2025, announced the killing of two terrorist elements, and the injuring of many in Bali Local Council of the State.

A statement from the Brigade’s spokesperson, Captain Olubodunde Oni, informed that the killing of the two terrorists and dislodging of others followed a grueling gun battle between troops and the insurgents on Monday, April 14, 2025.

“Acting on credible intelligence, troops swiftly responded to the movement of suspected bandits between Mayokan and Bondogri Villages in Bali Local Government Area LGA.

“The troops tactically advanced to the general area and made contact with the bandits around Garbatau Garin Hamidu, Bandaguri and Mayokan villages.

A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists,  while several others escaped with gunshot wounds”, Oni stated.

According to him, items recovered during the operation include one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, four rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition, one single barrel dane gun, 27 Arrows, and six cutlasses.

In a  similar clearance operation carried out in  Ibi Local Council, troops dismantled a suspected insurgents’ camp within Yamiri Community in Sarkin Kudu ward.

The terrorists were said to have taken to their heels, abandoning the hideout upon sighting troops.

Captain Oni noted that subsequent search of the camp led to the recovery of military woodland camouflage uniform and a Bible.

The Commander, 6  Brigade Nigeria Army, Brigadier- General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa commended the troops for their gallantry and reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security across Taraba State.

He urged the public to continue to provide timely and credible information to aid ongoing military operations.
