In a mad rush to get rich quick, a 42-year-old man, Sunday Obasuyi, has been remanded by a Magistrate Court in Ekiti State at the Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti, for, allegedly, selling his 82-year-old father, Michael Obasuyi to ritualists.
The suspect was remanded alongside two others, one Akinniyi (51) and Bobafe Sunday (51) for kidnapping and killing of the octogenarian.
The Magistrate, Bankole Oluwasanmi, said that the suspects will be in custody pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants conspired and kidnapped the aged man on February 1, at about 11am in Agbado-Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Government Area.
His corpse was, some weeks later, discovered in a shallow grave.
The Prosecutor further alleged that the first defendant, Obasuyi, conspired with Akinniyi and sold his father for N1.8million to the third defendant, Sunday, who was a herbalist.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 280, 279 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021. No plea was taken by the Court.
