Macron names Adesina Champion of African “Green Wall” Initiative |The Source

The President of African Development Bank, AfDB, Akinwumi Adesina, has been named by the French Prime Minister, Emmanuel Macron, as the champion of the African “Green Wall” initiative, The Source gathered.

The African Union is leading Africa’s flagship initiative to combat the increasing desertification aiming to effectively transform millions of African lives by creating a wide green landscape across North Africa, according to Wikipedia. The initial idea was to create a line of trees from east to the west bordering the Saharan Desert. Later it evolved into that of a mosaic of interventions addressing the challenges facing the people in the Sahel region and the Sahara.
