The Lagos state government has edged towards establishing its own anti-corruption agency after the state governor Babajide Sanwo-olu signed a bill into law to that effect. The action, watchers of the state insist, is to establish an anti graft agency that will rival the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
According to the bill signed by the state’s helmsman, the anti- graft agency would be similar in operations to the EFCC and its chairman would be appointed by the state governor.
While signing the bill earlier passed by the State House of Assembly, Governor Sanwo-Olu stated that the law will ensure accountability and public trust in government.
