For over 72 hours, unrest reigned in the Somolu Area of Lagos State and marred the All Progressives Congress, APC, Somolu Constituency 1 Primary.
Aggrieved Youths are angry, and that resulted in violence. It was sparked off over an alleged imposition of an aspirant, Hon. Rotimi Olowo, the incumbent Lawmaker representing Somolu Constituency 1 on other aspirants.
Olowo is aiming to represent the Constituent for the Fifth Term, having served Four Terms, which led to crisis in the Area.
The APC Primary earlier slated for Friday couldn’t hold due the irregularities raised by the APC Electoral Officer, Olayibi Blaise.
Blaise explained that the Primary could not hold as the ID Cards meant for the 30 Registered Delegates already in their possession were yet to be distributed yet, he saw the same ID Card being displayed by the Delegates.
It was gathered by this news medium that the said Delegates had received the ID cards a day earlier, was against the ethics and norms of electoral process.
Blaise stressed that this basically shows sabotage within the APC, because the manner they got the ID Cards for the Primary was surprising, as the 30 ID Cards were still in his possession.
Findings revealed that the 30 Delegates that were already with the ID Cards are loyalist of Hon. Olowo and Hon. Kuye who are also Aspirants vying for the same position along side 10 others, including the former Somolu Local Government Chairman, Olorogun Omogbolahan Bagostowe.
Following this anomalies, Blaise stood his ground that the Primary will not hold as he will return to the APC Secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba, Lagos to explain the irregularities that took center stage.
This led to the postponement of the Primary in the Area till further notice.
Some of the aspirants have however raised eyebrows following the perceived imposition of Olowo on others.
This led to a protest as Political Stakeholders in Somolu have condemned the imposition.
Alhaji Abdullateef Majolagbe, a major stakeholder appealed to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other stakeholders to shun the idea of imposing the candidacy of Hon. Olowo on them, and consider other aspirants too.
Meanwhile, Hon. Biodun Orekoya, the former Sole Administrator of the Council; Hon. Williams Lawanson, Printing Entrepreneur; Sheriff Adekoya, Businessman and Hotelier; Remi Ogbara, Real Estate icon, Babasehinde Ogunmuyiwa, and Lekan Osiyemi have all secured Lagos State House of Assembly nomination and expression of interest forms to step into Hon.
