Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has appointed Muyiwa John Adetola as the new Accountant-General of the state and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office.
The deployment was contained in a circular issued by the Office of the state Head of Service, and shared on the state government Facebook page on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Adetola was the state Auditor-General before his current appointment.
The government said the appointment was necessary to promote efficiency and continuity in the state public service.
Adetola’s appointment, according to the statement followed the statutory retirement of the outgoing Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, Abiodun Muritala.
“The Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, while wishing Mr Adetola success in his new role, urged all stakeholders to accord the circular the necessary publicity and cooperation to ensure a seamless transition.
“This strategic redeployment underscores the State Government’s commitment to maintaining efficiency, accountability, and continuity in public financial management,” the state government said.
Adetola’s appointment takes effect from Monday, March 2, 2026.
