An undisclosed number of persons have been crushed to death after a passenger train collided with a Bus Rapid Transport, BRT, owned by the Lagos state government.
The incident happened on Thursday close to the Ikejja-Along bus stop area.
Eye witnesses informed the magazine that the impatient of the BRT bus led to the accident that has now left many people dead while others are currently in critical conditions.
According to those who witnessed the fatal incident, the driver of the bus conveying civil servants to work refused to stop at the Level Crossing for the train which was already close by, to pass.
One witness said the BRT, a Lagos State Staff bus was trying to cross while the train was closed by in motion. The magnet on the train grabbed it from the PWD bus stop and dragged it to Shogunle where it stopped.
In view of the latest accident, not a few have called on the state government to put more safety measures in place to forestall another incident in the future, particularly now that the government is investing hugely on rail transport.
