The violence that rocked the All Progressives Congress, APC, rally in Lagos that resulted in a factional leader of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Musliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, being hospitalized has brought to the fore the problem of running a democratic government side by side with a Mafioso-like union that thrives on Violence and rule of the thumb.

Already, the whole episode has afforded the godfather of Lagos, Bola Tinubu to now have a complete control of the whole state apparatus in the event of the APC governorship candidate winning the election.

Following the disastrous outing, for example, the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imhonimi, was swiftly deployed out of Lagos. He has been, however, replaced by Kayode Egbetokun. Egbetokun was the Aid de Camp of Bola Tinubu when he was governor.

The Source had reported that a former Personal Assistant to Tinubu, Muri Okunola, is now the Head of Service of Lagos state. And the governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwolu, was Personal Assistant to Senator Remi Tinubu.

Recall that on January 8 2019, Lagos state kick-started their governorship campaign which was well attended in Ikeja, Lagos. During the rally, just when Akinwumi Ambode, the governor of Lagos state was delivering his speech, gunshots rent the air, there was pandemonium, and some people received bullet wounds, including a television Continental reporter and two other journalists.

In the ensuing confusion, MC Oluoma was stabbed on the neck with what was later described as a poisoned dagger. Another prominent member of the mob world, identified as legacy, was also wounded. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Legacy later gave up the ghost but Oluomo is still battling for dear life at Eko hospital where he was taken to.

MC Oluoma is just one of the names that evoke fear and trepidation in the world of Lagos Politics. Others are strange names like Talo Skibo, Koko Zaria, Hamburger, Esi oluwo, Kunle Poly, Owoseni, Nayam, and Mamok. These are names that evoke fear because they are said to supply thugs for political violence.

Many of these names are no longer in the land of the living. And Oshodi and Iyanu Ipaja appear to be the hub of their activities. Hambuger and Esi Oluwo held sway at  Oshodi. In 2015, Oluwo decamped to the Peoples democratic Party, PDP, and PDP swept the Primaries and went ahead to clear all positions there. He was later cajoled to return to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and he did. The day he resumed at the party, he was stabbed to death at an APC rally. Two years later, Hamburger was Also killed in an APC rally. The foot soldiers went underground. After the stabbing of Oluomo, Youtube videos emerged where aids of Hamburger and Oluwo accused Oluomo of being responsible for the death of their bosses. After the death of the duo, Oluomo was declared wanted and went underground. He was later to resurface and since has been seen walking around with Police escorts.

Reacting to allegations that he was responsible for the killings of the dead underground chieftains, Oluomo denied ever killing anybody. “I wonder why some people will want to judge me’, he said. “I have not by commission or omission impacted on the death of anyone in Oshodi or Lagos at Large. Allahu make it easy and permit the spirit of those they claim I kill to take my life if I kill (sic) them as they claim”.

Rumors are rife of plans by the state government to fly him out of Nigeria for medical treatment. His Children are said to be living in the United states of America.
