The Second Term bid of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu  got a boost following the defection of his close rival and a potential threat to his second term bid, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Jandor was welcomed into the PDP  fold by

UBA

former President of the Nigerian Senate and former Kwara State Governor, Abubakar Bukola Saraki over the weekend.

The grass root politician and a strong force in the APC, led the faction in Lagos under the aegis of the Lagos4Lagos Movement from the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the State to the PDP.

Receiving the defectors, Saraki, assured them that they “are moving to the party that would rescue Nigeria, to the party that would rescue Lagos State, to the party that would change the fortune of this country.”

Jandor has been having a running battle with the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC leadership in the State, querying the rationale behind some decisions and choices, and also against the imposition by the leadership of the Party.

The Lagos4Lagos Movement championed by Jandor had conducted parallel congresses during the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses of the APC recently, calling for transparency and equality in the Party.

It would be recalled that the Congresses conducted by the Jandor-led group were not recognised by the National leadership of the party, which ratified the Congresses held by the APC faction loyal to Bola Tinubu.

The new PDP member had indicated interest in running for the Governorship position in the State, threatening Governor Sanwo- Olu’s second term ambition, as the popularity of Jandor has over the years gathered momentum.

But his defection to the opposition is a sigh of relief to Governor Sanwo Olu when political campaign and hostilities resume in few months time.
