Labour Party Loses Another Lawmaker To APC

Less than a week after losing five of its members in the House of Representatives to the ruling All Progressives Congress, the Labour Party, LP, has once again lost another Lawmaker to the APC.

Ajang Illiya, a member of the LP caucus in the House of Representatives, representing the Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency, Plateau State, has defected to the APC.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen announced Iliya’s defection during Thursday’s plenary after reading a letter from the lawmaker.

Illiya gave the reason for his defection as the political wrangling in the Labour Party and the need to align with the APC’s national development agenda under President Bola Tinubu.

The Labour Party has been in turmoil following the leadership crisis that is yet to abate.
