Kebbi: Abducted District Head Killed By Abductors – Police Confirm

The suspicion of having been killed which trailed the continued holding of a District Head in Kebbi State, after eight others kidnapped along with him, were released has been confirmed. The Kebbi  State Police Command has confirmed his killing by his abductors.

Alhaji Isah Daya, District Head of Kanya, was kidnapped along with eight others in Kanya District of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area on October 6.

A combined team of Security Operatives, comprising Police, Military, and Vigilantes, conducted a rescue operation, resulting in the rescue of eight out of nine kidnapped victims.

The rescue mission occurred on October 8, 2024, at around 10:00 a.m. in Sakaba forest, following a gun duel with the kidnappers. But the District Head was not rescued.

Commissioner of Police, Bello Muhammad Sani extended condolences to the Kebbi State government, Zuru emirate, and the late District Head’s family, praying for his soul to rest in peace.

Report revealed that the rescued victims received medical attention at the General Hospital in Sakaba before being reunited with their families.

“The Kebbi State Police Command urges the public to provide relevant information to aid in arresting the perpetrators of this heinous crime. Anyone with information can contact the authorities to support the ongoing investigation.

“This incident is the latest in a series of bandit attacks in Kebbi State. On Saturday, bandits stormed Kanya village, killing one person, Sheriff Almu, and abducting eight others, including the district head.

“The state Governor, Nasir Idris, has been working to enhance security and development across the region.

“The rescue operation demonstrates the commitment of security agencies to protecting citizens and combating crime.
