Kano State Governor has gone further in its quest to reduce the number of out of school children with its resolve to distribute uniforms to over 789,000 primary school pupils.
The State’s Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, announced that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is set to launch a major initiative to address the issue of out-of-school children in the region.
Waiya, in a statement, stated that the governor will flag off the distribution of school uniforms to Primary one pupils across the state on Monday.
According to Waiya, the programme is expected to benefit over 789,000 male and female pupils from 7,092 public schools across all 44 local government areas of Kano state.
“The initiative aims to promote school enrolment, ensuring that every child of school age has the opportunity to access quality education.
“The distribution of uniforms is seen as a critical step in reducing the number of out-of-school children, especially for families facing financial difficulties.
“The move highlights the administration’s commitment to making education accessible to all and underscores its focus on tackling educational inequality.
“Governor Yusuf emphasized that education remains a central priority for his administration, with efforts to empower young learners to build a better future for themselves and the state.
“The uniforms are expected to provide much-needed support for indigent parents, alleviating some of the financial burdens associated with sending children to school.”
