Kano: Governor Abba Rejects APC’s Overtures To Decamp

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, has rejected  overtures from the rival All Progressive Congress APC for him to dump his New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP, and join ranks with it. He insisted that he has no plans to abandon the platform that gave him his present position.

Governor Yusuf’s assertion is coming against the backdrop of the formal invitation extended to him on Thursday January 25 2024 by the National Chairman of the APC Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to consider the possibilities of joining the APC .

The APC Kano had at the end of its enlarged stakeholders meeting held in the ancient commercial centre called also on Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso the  National Leader of the NNPP and followers of the party to  join forces with the APC for the advancement of democracy and economic growth of Kano state

But in a press statement issued on Friday, January 26, by his Spokesperson Sanusi Tofa, Governor Yusuf rejected the APC offer, and noted that he is comfortable with the NNPP as a party.

“We heard that the national chairman of APC Dr Ganduje is begging the Governor to join the APC .What is  surprising is that Ganduje as a former Governor and Deputy Governor of Kano, knows better than anyone the right channels through which to  send a message to a sitting Governor.

His Excellency, Governor Abba Yusuf Kabir, does not have any plans to leave his party ,and will not do so.

Changing a political party is like changing a house. You can not just wake up and pack your bags and say l am leaving the house. There are things that need to be done before you will decide to change your house.” Dawakin Tofa noted
