There is pandemonium in Kano State over the dethronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano by the Governor of the State, Abdullahi Ganduje.
At the State Executive Council Meeting held Monday at the State House, Governor Ganduje announced his immediate sack, leading to chaos among Executive members and Members of the State Assembly, with mixed feelings trailing it from supporters of both Ganduje and the Emir.
Governor Ganduje says the dethronement of Sanusi was imminent over his lack of respect for him the governor, and members of his government.
The dethronement of Sanusi is coming in the wake of several crisis that have emanated between him and the Governor in the build up to the 2019 general elections, where the Emir, allegedly, showed support for the opposition candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a bid to remove him from office, there were allegations of financial misappropriation and recklessness, which almost ousted him out of office, but it took the intervention of several high profile Nigerians, including Aliko Dangote, Northern Elder Statesman, Governors and other political stalwarts to thwart the plan.
Sanusi has been a critic of the Ganduje administration and that of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The coming days will tell what the future holds for the former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor.
