Amidst reported plan by some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to drag former President Goodlcuk Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election, a man of God has disclosed that the former leader will win if he decided to run.
Bomadi Serimoedumu, the General Overseer and founder of Mount Zion Divine Gospel Ministry Inc., Prophet, said he received a vision from God that Jonathan defeated President Tinubu.
For weeks, the idea of Jonathan running in the next presidential election has been reported, leaving not a few Nigerians divided over what his chances are against the incumbent.
While some said he’s likely to win, opponents said he stands no chance against President Tinubu. For instance, a member of the House of representatives from Kogi state said at the weekend that the former president will be disgraced if he decided to run, saying President Tinubu will win at least 32 states of the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory, FCT, to defeat him.
In spite of the reactions that have greeted the issue, the former leader has yet to speak, despite the fact that sources close to him said he’s really being prevailed upon to throw his hat in the ring for the upcoming presidential election, by some well meaning Nigerians, particularly from his party, the PDP under which he lost the 2025 election.
Speaking on Sunday during a service in his church, Serimoedumu said he say Jonathan in a vision returning “as president” if he contest the election in 2027.
The prophet said he saw the flag of the PDP flying above that of the ruling APC and others, with former President Jonathan raising it high—signifying his triumph.
He said, “I see President Goodluck Jonathan in Aso Rock leading this country again. If he chooses to run in 2027, he will return as President. There will be prosperity, and the people will rejoice.”
Meanwhile, sources close to the former leader informed the magazine that he has yet to consider whether he will run or not, describing the report as a “mere fabrications” from those who wans to polarize the south to weaken the region, divide its votes ahead the election coming up in two years.
“These persons are just trying to turn southern leaders against themselves, using them as pawns in their political game, to achieve a definitive motive. If Jonathan, Obi and Tinubu run on different platforms, what do your think will happen at the end of the day, to the chance of a southern candidate wining the election? He asked.
