The Jigawa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has insisted that no genuine delegates from the State attended the Ibadan National Convention of the party.

The leadership of the party maintained that all those who claimed to have represented Jigawa State at the Convention were imposters .

The Source reports that the leader of the party in the State and a founding father, former Governor Sule Lamido had dragged the National Organizing Committee and the National Executive Committee NEC to Court, to challenge his exclusion from the National Chairmanship contest.

Justice Peter Lifu of an Abuja High Court also had, on Friday, November 14, on the strength of Lamido’s suit, ruled to restrain the PDP from going ahead with the Convention, as well as ordering the inclusion of the complainants on the list of contestants for the National Chairmanship position.

But the PDP failure to abide by the Court’s ruling led to the Jigawa chapter directing delegates from the State  to boycott the Convention.

In a disclaimer on his official site Saturday night, November 15, 2025, the state Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Babandi Gumel, informed that the chapter was firm on its decision to shun the Convention on account of the unjust treatment meted out to its leader, Lamido.

He warned against fraudsters and imposters, insisting that no authentic delegate from the State was at Ibadan.

The statement came against the backdrop of information to the effect that some people were at the Convention venue claiming to be from Jigawa State.

“These imposters do not represent us. Jigawa State PDP is committed to genuine reconciliation and legal processes that unite, not divide our great party.

“We, therefore, urge members and the public to ignore any fraudulent claims and focus on resolving the national crisis through dialogue.

“Some people are claiming to be elected delegates representing Jigawa at this ongoing factional purported convention.

“The Jigawa Chapter, under my leadership, has boycotted the event entirely. The stance complies with the court judgment favouring Lamido’s participation in party processes .

“We are not participating in the convention. We are saddened by the way our party affairs are being handled, especially the current crisis rocking its foundation.

“Our chapter is resolute in participating only in processes that will reconcile our party.

” We call upon our leaders to reach out to all aggrieved parties and find a solution to this crisis”, Gumel said.
