The Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has warned all those harassing, or thinking of harassing members, or any member of his legal team to back off or face his wrath. He said he would never forgive anybody – IPOB members, associates, friends or family – who engage in either harassing or bullying or running down members of his Legal team.
Kanu’s message was passed through his Lead Counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, on Monday, October 18, 2021, when he paid a routine visit to Kanu at his detention centre in Abuja, along with Kanu’s internationally exposed Special Counsel, Alloy Ejimakor.
In an update after the visit, Ejiofor said Kanu was okay, and confidently looking forward to Thursday, October 21, his day in Court.
It is not known why Kanu warned against the harassment of members of his legal team, but weeks ago, some overzealous, alleged, members of IPOB had accused the team of double dealing.
But Kanu full of commendation for the Legal team, says he trusts them absolutely, and has declared anybody who harasses them an enemy for life.
Following, according to Barrister Ejiofor, are what Kanu, who they call Onyendu, told them.
*”Onyendu made it categorically clear that none of his lawyers should be harassed, threatened or accused by anybody claiming to be his supporter or follower, regardless of the person’s tie with him. He was very particular about those who find it convenient to insult his Attorneys vide their live social media platforms.
“Our Client Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu emphasized that he trusts his lawyers and continues to have high confidence in them.
*That anybody engaged in such harassment, threats and unfounded accusations directed against his lawyers, is definitely working against him, and that he shall never forgive such person(s) and shall eternally see such person(s) as his enemy.
*”That the best thing anybody claiming to be his supporter or follower can do for him at this point in time is to wholeheartedly support all his lawyers in their current efforts.
*That any such threats, harassment and false accusations against any of his lawyers should seize forthwith.”
Kanu is billed to appear at an FCT Abuja Federal Court on Thursday, October 21. He is being prosecuted by the Federal Government, which has just amended some of the charges, on sundry issues, including treasonable felony and terrorism.
IPOB has declared a sit-at-home order in the South-east on that day, and has decided to inflict a one month sit-at-home order in the Zone if Kanu does not appear in Court on that day.
At the last adjourned day, Kanu was not brought to Court due to what was called “logistics reasons.”
