Insecurity: Ondo Gov Asks For Deployment Of More Military Personnel

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has asked for the deployment of more security agents to Akoko axis of the State where insecurity has been prevalent of recent.

Speaking while receiving leaders from the Northern Senatorial District of the State on Tuesday, the Governor revealed that he ordered deployment of 115 military personnel to the area.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan on Tuesday stated that the Governor emphasized that the protection of lives and property remains a top priority for his administration, and assured of even development across all local government areas of the State.

The Governor expressed willingness to consider the proposed security trust fund being suggested by the visitors and announced plans to bolster the Amotekun Corps with more personnel.

Highlighting the importance of traditional institutions, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured that royal fathers would always be carried along in his administration, acknowledging their pivotal role in grassroots mobilization and development.

The Governor also promised that the crisis between Akungba and Idogun would be given the attention it deserves.

Earlier, leaders from the Northern Senatorial District commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his early strides in governance, particularly in infrastructure development.

The leaders, led by former Senator, Bode Olajumoke, hailed the Governor’s performance so far, urging him to prioritize equitable distribution of development across the three senatorial districts and intensify efforts in tackling security challenges in the area.

The former Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District of the State encouraged the Governor to be cautious in selecting the remaining members of his cabinet, emphasizing the need for competence and fairness.

Olajumoke advised the government to consider acquiring more sophisticated equipment as well as deploying technology to enhance the performance of the Amotekun Corps, in addition to recruiting more personnel to ensure more boots are on the ground.

He added that if the government proposes a Security Trust Fund, through an Executive Bill, the ultimate outcome will bring about a more effective coordination, synergy and improved funding for internal security in the State.

He appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for the proposed conversion of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo to University of Agriculture, urging him to speed up action on the implementation time table in this regard.
