The political environment in Imo State was set on fire, Tuesday, when the news of the passing of Chief Emma Ojinere, was broken.
An astute politician, who at one time or the other was a member of the PDP and APC, under which he contested for various positions, including a Senatorial seat to represent Owerri zone, he reportedly died of complications connected to COVID-19. He had also aspired to become the Governor.
Until his death, Ojinere, a native of Ahuazu, Mbaise, held the chieftaincy title of Aka ji Ugo 1 of Mbaise.
APC State Chairman Dies Too
In another development, the State Chairman of the APC, Akwa Ibom State chapter, Udo Ekpenyong, reportedly died of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
Ekpenyong was a Special Adviser to a former Governor of the State, Obong Victor Attah, on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
