The Imo State chapter of the The African Democratic Congress, (ADC), has been hit with tragedy following the sudden passing of its Deputy Publicity Secretary, Honourable Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu. His death has thrown the Party into deep mourning.
Asuzu slumped and passed in the morning of Wednesday, October 2, 2025.
A prominent voice in Igbo socio-cultural discourse, Azuzu was the convener of Ikoro Ndigbo.
A statement issued by ADC’s State Publicity Secretary, Chief MacDonald Amadi, which confirmed Asuzu’s passing, described it as “a deeply saddening loss.”
Amadi acknowledged Asuzu as a “man of uncommon intellect, conviction, and service.”
The late Asuzu was a native of Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area who combined
academic excellence with community-based activism. He was a doctoral student before he passed-on.
A staunch member of the ADC, he founded and led “I Stand With ADC”, a coalition support group which main focus is on mobilising citizens for democratic involvement.
Prior to defecting to ADC, he was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“The passing of Chief Asuzu is an irreplaceable loss to his family, the ADC family, and the larger Nigerian society,” the statement further read.
