A former Governor of Imo State, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Emeka Ihedioha, has lost his mother.
A Knight of the Anglican Church, just like her son, Emeka, Dame Dorothy Nsonma Ihedioha died on Thursday, 20th April, 2023, in Abuja, at the age of 90 years.
Having celebrated her 90th Birthday on 28th August, 2022, Mama died a couple of months shy of her 91st birthday which her loving family had looked forward to.
A strong woman, well grounded and rooted in her faith and trust in God, she never wavered even in the face of temptations capable of shaking one’s faith.
Dame Ihedioha was a proud daughter of the prominent Okereke family of Ngor Okpala, Imo State, and was married to the Ihedioha family, Mbutu, Mbaise, where he raised a successful and formidable family.
In a short statement to announce his mother’s passing, which he personally signed, the Rt. Honourable Ihedioha said she passed surrounded by her family.
The Statement, titled:
OUR MATRIARCH TRANSITS TO ETERNITY reads:
“After a fruitful and eventful life of God’s abundant mercies and grace, our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Dame Dorothy Nsonma Ihedioha (Nee Okereke) gloriously transited to eternity on Thursday 20th April 2023 in Abuja, with her family by her side.
“Mama celebrated her 90th birthday on 28th August 2022.
“While we thank friends and well wishers who identified with us, particularly during our mother’s last days, we enjoin you to remember the family in your prayers.
“Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
