Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is Chairman
The respected and hard-hitting Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, His Lordship, Dr. Mathew Hassan Kukah, will be on song, March 24, 2025, at an intellectual and political harvest to mark the 60th Birthday Anniversary of a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, The Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
The event to which invitees are looking forward already, will be a full house of every who-is-who at its Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel venue.
Ihedioha was also, a former Governor of Imo State.
His birthday scheduled to hold marking on March 24, 2025, will kick off with a Colloquium which will raise a number of issues affecting our dear Nation – present and future.
In a letter of invite personally signed by the celebrant, he gave a teaser to his invitees of what to expect.
With a central theme, Is Democracy Failing in Africa?, Ihedioha said the aim of the Colloquium is “to take stock of the democratic fortunes of our nation and evaluate the future of democracy in Africa.”

The event which will be chaired by no less a personality than former President Olusegun Obasanjo, is also ”designed to provide a platform for distinguished leaders and thinkers to share insights and reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing our country.”
The milestone birthday will be rounded off with a dinner in the evening of same day.
The Rt. Honourable Emeka Ihedioha was Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives 2011-2015 and Governor, Imo State, 2019 – 2020. Until he quit the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in 2023, he was its Leader in Imo State. His exit triggered an unprecedented run on the Party in the State from which it has not recovered.
He is married to the lovely Lady Ebere Ihedioha with whom she has four children – three sons and a daughter.
Ihedioha is a Knight of the Order of St. Christopher, KSC, Anglican Communion. He holds the National Honour of Commander Of the Order of the Niger, CON.
