The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday January, 10, 2025 issued a marching order for the tracking down of those suspected to be behind the bombing of the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in.Borno State.
The Source reports that an explosion, triggered by suspected insurgents on the police facility on Thursday, January 9, 2025 left two operatives dead and others seriously injured.
According to a statement issued by the Borno state Police Command’s Spokesperson, Nahum Daso, the attack occurred at about 12.10am, culminating in the killing of the duo of Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.
He domiciled the blame for the deadly explosion on the door steps of suspected terrorists elements operating in the State.
The IGP, in a statement from the Force Public Relation Officer, FPRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, ACP, also, warned of dire consequences against promoters of the attack on both operatives and police facilities across the country.
To this end ,Egbetokun ,has directed the Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG in charge of Zone 15 ,Kenechukwu Onwuemelie to take all necessary steps to fish out the masterminds of the gruesome act .
The IGP vowed to not only go after those that target police operatives on duty, but others who seek to obstruct investigations into such condemnable activities.
“In a resolute response to the recent explosives attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters ,Borno State, on 9th January, 2025, at about 12:10 am ,which led to the death of two Police Officers –Inspector Batholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifa, the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun has condemned the attack and ordered an immediate and thorough clampdown on the perpetrators as Cop killers will not go unpunished” Adejobi stated.
:While condoling with the families ,relations and Friend’s of the deceased officers ,the IGP assured that their sacrifices in the line of duty will not be in vain.
“This is just as he promised that the Service will ensure that their entitlements will be paid to the families promptly.”
