“I will Deal With You For Trying To Rubbish Kwankwaso” – Kano Gov. TO Bichi

Abba Yusuf, Governor of Kano State, has promised that the State Government will not fold its hands and watch its former Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Dr Baffa Buchi, run down a former Governor of the State, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Kano State is in the hands of New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, which Presidential Candidate Kwankwaso was in the 2023 General Elections. Even though the Party, like the other Political parties is embroiled in crisis, it is taken for granted that Kwankwaso is its leader. In Kano politics, Kwankwaso, who was, also, a former Defence Minister, is well respected.

However, in the past couple of weeks, Bichi, who was removed by the current State Government as its SSG based on health grounds, has not only been heaping all kinds of allegations against the State Government and the Governor, but also on Kwankwaso.

Bichi dismisses Governor Yusuf’s Government as not only overly corrupt, indeed more corrupt than the immediate past Government, but also accused it of giving Kwankwaso a monthly allocation of two billion Naira.

The State Government, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information has since denied the allegations but has said it would expose the real reason why Bichi was removed as the SSG – meaning the reason was far from the ill-health told the public.

As if that disclosure by the Commissioner was not enough, the State Governor on weighed in strongly.

Speaking during his Government’s maiden meeting with 444 Councilors in the State, Governor Yusuf dismissed Bichi as mentally unstable.  Tackling Bichi over Kwankwaso, Yusuf said the Govenment will not take lightly Bichi’s efforts at crippling and rubbishing Kwankwaso’s name.

For starters, the Governor said  he would delete Buchi’s name from the list of genuine Kano indigenes for his constant attack on Kwankwaso and other political and religious leaders in the State.

Governir Yusuf:  “I think Baffa Bichi is mentally unstable because if he is sound in his head, most of what he is attacking us with are baseless, unfounded insinuations that have no place in the running of an administration.

“Dr Baffa Bichi, despite series of rejections of his appointment by Ulamas and many other stakeholders, yet we appointed him to the exalted seat of SSG.

“Your (Bichi) efforts in crippling and throwing the names of Kwankwaso into dustbin would not be taken lightly by us, you said all sorts of things against our leader that you cannot prove.

“Let me tell you that Kwankwaso has gone through life, he rose through the ranks politically and otherwise, including being one of the most superior federal Minister of Defence and two term governor and senator but one cannot show where he has done anything wrong.”

The Governor then extended his anger and threat to Media Houses who give Bichi space and/ or airtime to rubbish his Government, Kwankwaso and other high profile persons in the State.

Yusuf: “We would not hesitate in taking legal actions against any medium that allows its space for the likes of Baffa Bichi to air their wrong notions and baseless unfounded insinuation on our leaders. We will not allow this to continue.”
