Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, the incumbent Senator, Enugu East, has conceded defeat and congratulated the winner of the Senatorial Election.
Sir Kelvin Chukwu of the Labour Party, LP, defeated Nnamani in the March 18th Senatorial Election.
Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, the incumbent Senator, Enugu East, has conceded defeat and congratulated the winner of the Senatorial Election.
Sir Kelvin Chukwu of the Labour Party, LP, defeated Nnamani in the March 18th Senatorial Election.
He scored a total of 69,136 votes to Nnamani’s 48, 701 votes.
In his congratulatory message to Chukwu, Dr Nnamani said he was defeated by the rave of the moment in the South-east, LP – and added that the people have spoken.
His words: “The result of the election is in tandem with the rave of the moment in the South-east Zone who have identified with the Labour Party. A contrary result would have negated the trend. The people have spoken.
” I wish the Enugu East Senator-elect a successful tenure in the upper legislative chamber.”
Sir Kelvin Chukwu was chosen by the LP to replace his brother, Barrister Oyibo Chukwu, who was gruesomely murdered a couple of days to the Election which was scheduled to hold on February 25th 2023. That of Enugu East Senatorial District was shifted to March 18th because of Barrister Chukwu’s murder.
Nnamani ran under the banner of the PDP, even though he has been expelled by the Party.
With Nnamani’s defeat, the LP has won tye three Senatorial Districts in Enugu State.
