After years of battling ill- health, and years of being missed by his numerous fans, Romanus Amuta, succumbed to death.
To many, especially the younger generation, his name may sound strange,but, the veteran actor was one of those who kept Nigerians glued to their Television sets.
Amuta rose to limelight after featuring in Popular Nigerian Soap Opera ‘The Masquerade’ where he played the role of ‘Natty’.
He died in the early hours after a long battle with Stroke.
The late Amuta was off the acting scene after developing Stroke in 2009. His health was being managed quietly until it deteriorated, leading to his death
Speaking on the development, his son, Chukwuma, told newsmen: “My father died this morning in Lagos after a protracted illness”.
The 79 year old hailed from Ukana, Udi LGA of Enugu state.
It would be recalled that the Late Amuta made the headlines in 2014 after a rumour hit Social Media with the caption ‘Romanus Amuta is Dead’.
The report was quickly dispelled as the thespian granted an interview to journalists stating that he was alive and well but admitted being down with partial paralysis arising from Stroke.
Former President of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Ibinabo Fiberisima rushed to his aid and helped his family with the much needed financial assistance at the time.
Amuta is survived by a wife and Children.
