Just as the Ekiti state Police Command is still trying to unravel those behind the killing of a top government official on Sunday night, a United States Returnee, and indigene of the state, has been kidnapped.
The victim, Jide Ijadare, reportedly, a retired US Army officer, was whisked away from his farm along Ijan/Ise road on Monday by armed men.
His security aide, who struggled with the kidnappers, was killed on the spot while they drove away with Mr. Ijadare.
Ijadare was reported to have returned from the USA to start a palm oil producing factory at Ijan, his countryhome ,where he has employed over 50 people.
Ijan road, which is one of the link highways to Abuja, has become dreaded due to activities of kidnappers.
A few months ago, a director with one of the federal agencies was abducted while his driver was shot.
Police Public Relations officer in the state, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, assuring that policemen are on the trail of the abductors.
David Jejelowo, a director in the state local government commission was shot dead Sunday evening at his residence, off Ijan road, Ado Ekiti in the presence of his wife by gunmen.
