It was a sad Monday for the people of Bama in Borno State, as the revered Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibrahim El-Kanemi died.
The late El-Kanemi joined his forebears on Monday afternoon at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH
Cause of death was not revealed.
Borno State, Commissioner for Information, Babakura Jatto, broke the news of the of the Monarch which took his Emirate and many others by surprise because of its suddenness.
“We regret to announce to you that the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibn Ibrahim Umar Al-Amim El-Kanemi has passed away. Shehu Bama went to the hospital today and died,” the Commissioner said.
Jatto also said the cause of the monarch’s death was unknown and promised that government would keep the public informed after receiving information from the hospital.
The Commissioner urged the media not to speculate on the cause of death of the monarch.
El-Kanemi was installed the Shehu of Bama in 1990.
