Days after he was declared missing, the Bayelsa State Police Command, Saturday evening August 2, 2025, recovered the already decomposing remains of the Vice Chairman of Bayelsa State Association of Real Estate Consultants , Ekpeboh Richard.
The Source reports that Richard’s family had raised alarm when he failed to return days after he left home on July 24, 2025.
The body of Richard, a renowned real estate consultant, according to Police and family sources, showed that he was shot in the head ,and dumped in the forest along the New NDDC/Otuokpoti in Ogbia Local Government Area of the State.
According to a member of his family, Richard ,who hailed from Amassoma community in the Southern Ijaw Local Council of the State, was said to have gone out on his usual business activities for the day on July 24, but failed to return home.
The situation, including many unanswered calls to his phone, prompted his distraught wife to raise alarm about his safety.
However, after three days of anxiety, the late Richard was said to have responded through WhatsApp message, urging his wife and other family members not to worry and or mount needless pressure on him as he was safe.
But a veiled threat by the wife to enlist the support of other family members to demand the reasons why he Richard had decided to abandon his family only resulted in a promise to send the sum of N15, 000, to her for the family’s upkeep for the time being.
However, the decision to send the money via a point of sales PoS, and not through the wife’s bank account, further sparked suspicion that he must have been in danger.
It was, however, discovered that his abductors and killers were actually behind the WhatsApp messages to the deceased’s wife.
According to the family sources ,it was at this juncture that the matter was reported to the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, RRS, of the State Police Command.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the real estate consultant was seen being dragged out of his vehicle by two armed men on the said day he left home.
The abductors were also said to have bundled him into their operational vehicle and fled the scene , after firing gunshots into the air to scare onlookers and passersby.
As at the time of reporting, security agencies were still trying to determine the actual circumstances surrounding the unfortunate abduction and murder of the real estate mogul.
However, there are strong indications linking the fate of Richard to a case of business deals gone awry.
According to family and police sources, the victim was owing two business associates the sum of N9 million and N3 million each before the incident.
The State Police authorities, however, are also said to be looking at other possibilities, aside the theory of business deals with members of the deceased’s real estate association.
