How One Year Old Was Killed By Abductors After Ransom From Her Family

The Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, has  expressed deep regrets over the  abduction, and subsequent gruesome murder of one year-old Sakina Mamuda.

This is just as he vowed to  collaborate with all relevant bodies to secure justice for the victim.

Little Mamuda was kidnapped and later killed by five suspected individuals -Zailahi Rabiu, Hafizu Yusuf, Amadu Salisu,bAbubakar Abdulkareem and Umar Lawan in Duhun Bake Community, Gwarzo Local Council of Kano State.

According to a statement issued Thursday evening May 8, 2025, by the Governor’s Media Aide, Sanusi Tofa, the  suspects  killed the toddler after demanding and receiving a ransom from her family.

She was killed and  her body, dumped in an open well.

Governor Yusuf  in the statement, lauded the Department of State Services, DSS, for the arrest of the suspects behind the dastardly act.

While expressing sadness and grief over the development, Governor Yusuf particularly appreciated the DSS and other security agencies for the swift and decisive response, leading to the apprehension of the suspects.

“This senseless tragedy has shaken us to the core. l commend the DSS for acting swiftly and decisively. We will continue to prioritize the safety of our people and ensure that those who threaten our peace are brought to justice”, the Governor stated.

The suspects according  to the statement are presently under close investigation for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, and homicide.

At a press briefing the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Haruna Dederi, assured of the commitment of the State authorities towards ensuring a diligent prosecution of all those found to be culpable in the heinous crime.

Expectedly, the incident has been drawing  significant public flaks, with not a few calling for Justice for the victim.
