How Abducted Ekiti Monarch Negotiated Wife’s Freedom From Kidnappers

Armed suspected kidnappers have abducted another traditional ruler in Ekiti state.

The Eleda of Eda Ile, in Ekiti East Local government area of Ekiti State, Oba Benjamin Oso, was reportedly whisked away on Friday.

Oba Oso was said to have been kidnapped in the presence of his wife while working at their farm at Eda Ile.

His kidnap brings to three the number of Traditional Rulers that have been victims of kidnap in the state.

Barely two months ago, the Obaadu of Ilemeso, in Oye local government, Oba David Oyewumi, was abducted by unknown gunmen, inside his Palace.

He was let off the hook after ransom was paid to his abductors, who are still at large.

A Community source told journalists in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, that the Monarch and his wife would have been kidnapped, but for pleas by the Traditional ruler.

“The Oba and his wife went to farm and were accosted by these gunmen.

“The two would have been kidnapped, but the Monarch begged the bandits to free his wife, which they agreed.”

The Commander of the Ekiti State Security Network, Amotekun, Brig-Gen. Joe Komolafe, confirmed the abduction.

Akomolafe said security outfits in Ekiti, including police, soldiers, Amotekun corps, local hunters and Vigilante groups, are already in the forests searching for the Monarch.
