Hoodlums Beat Naval Officer To Death Over Splashed Water In Ondo Community

An alleged killing of a Naval Officer in an Ondo community has forced residents to flee in order to avoid being victims of a retaliatory move by colleagues of the deceased officer.

Already, tension has enveloped  Idoani community of Ose Local Government Area over the killing of the Naval officer in the town, Monday evening.

Sources confirmed that some Naval men have already invaded the community in search of the culprits turning it to ghost town.

It was gathered that Military men stormed the agrarian community to look for those behind the killing of their colleague. Commercial activities have been halted.

Most young men in the community have fled the area over fear of arrest, while many residents of the community were reportedly worried over the development as colleagues of the deceased officer allegedly threatened to avenge his death.

It was gathered that the Naval officer, who was traveling along the road in the community reportedly  splashed water on a passenger on a motorcycle while trying to avoid potholes on the road.

The deceased was said to have parked and apologized to the motorcyclist, whose name was simply given as Ayo, who refused to accept pleading, but instead mobilized sizeable number of thugs to deal with the officer.

Report has it that  suspected thugs pounced on the Naval officer, hit him with an iron rod on the head. He  lost consciousness.

He was said to have been rushed to the hospital where the doctor confirmed his death before any assistance could come.

The Okada rider was apprehended and handed over to the police in the town, while one of the thugs who hit the deceased with the iron was said to have taken to his heel to avoid being arrested.

When contacted, the State  Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmi Odunlami, promised to find out the details of the incident.
