A few months after he was expelled by the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Hon Jibrin Abdulmumin, on Monday November 10, ,2025, announced his defection to the All Progressive Congress APC .
The Lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Kano Federal Constituency had in the countdown to the 2023 general elections left APC to join forces with the NNPP and the Kwankansiya Movement.
However, he was expelled by the NNPP, in August 2025 over alleged anti-party activities and failure to observe his financial and other obligations to the party.
In a post on his official site, the former Director -General of Tinubu Support Group in Kano, informed that the decision to rejoin the APC was a unanimous one by his teeming supporters during a ceremony in Kofa Bebeji on Sunday, October 9.
He also announced the endorsement of the second term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by his constituents.
“Today, in a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents in my hometown of Kofa, Bebeji, Kano.
“The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankansiya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.
“From the beginning, almost 2000 Islamic scholars from my Constituency, have offered special prayers for the President and sought peace, development and progress for Kiru/Bebeji, Kano and Nigeria, altogether”, Hon Abdulmumin stated.
The Source reports that Hon. Abdulmumin had fallen out with the NNPP/Kwankansiya Movement Leadership in Kano owing to his romance with the Presidency,as well as his claim of facilitating the defection of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso,the Presidential candidate of the party in the 2023 general elections to the APC.
The Kano State Chairman of the NNPP, Hashim Dungurawa, while announcing the expulsion of Hon Abdulmumin accused him of being ungrateful and non-committal to the interests of the Party, after being offered the platform to realize his political ambition in 2023 .
But while debunking the allegations, the Federal Lawmakers, thanked the Party for the support accorded him .
