Gunmen Mow Down Seven In Imo, Police Vow To Track Down Perpetrators

The Imo State Police Command on Friday, July 25, 2025  confirmed the killing of no fewer than seven people by gunmen  in the early hours of the Friday.

Though no investigation has been carried out yet, the coordinated attacks have been blamed by Police authorities, pointedly, on  suspected members of the IPOB’s ‘ armed wing ,the Eastern Security Network ESN. The fatal attacks were carried out across Ejezie ,Umualaoma ,and Ndiakuwata Uno communities in Arondizuogu, within Ideato North Local Government Area of State.

A statement from the Command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, quoted the State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, as describing the attack  as barbaric, inhumane and unacceptable.

The attacks, according to the Police Authorities , resulted in several others being critically injured.

This is as the Command assured that a full-scale operation has commenced ,with a view to tracking down the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

CP Danjuma, according to the statement, has directed for the immediate deployment of operatives of both tactical and Intelligence units of the Command to comb the areas , particularly some acclaimed flashpoints and strongholds of the terrorists.

While extending his heartfelt condolences to the families, relations and friends of the victims, Danjuma also expressed the Command’s unwavering commitment towards bringing all those involved in the dastardly act to justice.
