It was a bloody Saturday night at a crowded Snooker Spot opposite Ojo Military Barracks, Lagos, when gunmen invaded it and left on its trail pain and sorrow.
Eye witness accounts said that the gunmen, numbering five, wearing native attires, walked into the Snooker Spot like everybody else, and pretended as if they were looking for seats to sit down on, when they suddenly pulled out their guns and began to shoot indiscriminately.
Panic gripped everybody and pandemonium took over as people scrambled to escape. In the confusion, the gunmen simply walked away without any challenge or resistance.
By the time they left, four people lay dead, and a 14- year old boy, among others, was hit by a bullet. Among the fatalities was a man who was selling noodles at the fun spot. Time was 9.00pm.
A man who identified himself to The Punch as Akogun narrated: “The men came to the Snooker Spot around 9.00pm. The Spot is right opposite the Ojo Military Barracks. Being a crowded place, the men walked in like regular fun seekers, wearing native attire. They pretended to be looking for where to sit, but suddenly pulled out what looked like AK-47 rifles and began shooting indiscriminately. Everyone started running for safety while some were hit by bullets. The Mallam selling noodles just beside the Snooker Spot was the first to die.”
At the time of this report, report, a statement from the Police was still being awaited.
