Gunmen Bomb Police, Kill Two Raze  Operational Vehicle In Anambra

The orgy of fatal attacks on security agencies particularly the police and public facilities in Anambra state on Thursday October 3, 2024 continued. Two Police Operatives were killed in Nnewi by gunmen.

This is just as the Anambra Police Command said that efforts are on going to track down the assailants .

The two Police personnel were killed in the early hours of Thursday in Uruagu community in Nnewi North Local Government.

The gunmen threw improvised explosives at the Policemen which  resulted in their death.

A statement from the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, SP, informed that the police officers who were on an investigative mission, were sighted and attacked by the hoodlums who, in the course of a gun duel, threw IED at the operatives.

Ikenga assured that a coordinated manhunt for the hoodlums has been launched.

”Joint Security Force begins manhunt operation on armed men who murdered two police operatives on investigation activities in the early hours of today 3/10/2024 at Uruagu, Nnewi North.

“Preliminary information reveals that the armed men started shooting sporadically on sighting the Police operatives and threw an improvised explosive into their operational vehicle.

“Unfortunately, two of the operatives paid the supreme price while the vehicle caught fire.

“Given the above, the Command urges members of the public, especially the eyewitnesses and others to aid the ongoing Police Operations in the area” part of the police statement reads .

The Source reports that Thursday’s attack, came on the heels of similar ones on the Ogbaru Local Government Headquarters, Oba Police Divisional Headquarters, Umunze Police formation, Ihiala Police and others, all within the last two months .

Most of the attacks, also,  recorded human and material casualties, particularly on the part of security agencies.
