Gunmen have abducted the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Professor Cyril Ndifon.
The Professor of Law was abducted from his residence, Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Cross River State.
Ndifon had earlier raised an alarm that he was trailed by masked gunmen who attempted to abduct him to a Church.
Professor Ndifon was suspended by the University authorities over allegations of se€ual harassment by female Law students of the University who protested against him in front of the Vice Chancellor’s office. He denied all allegations, but an Investigative Panel set up on the matter indicted him as well as on other sundry issues.
Confirming the abduction of Ndifon, his son, David, said the gunmen invaded their home between 11pm Wednesday, and early Thursday morning, fired several gunshots, and harassed the family by pointing guns at them.
He said: “It is true. He was taken away by gunmen. The incident happened between the hours of 11pm on Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday.
“We have been trying our best and making necessary calls to ensure his safe return.”
Neither the Police nor the University authority has, so far, issued a statement on the incident.
