Governor Yusuf Loses Media Aide To Thugs

The disturbing activities of thugs, otherwise known in local parlance as “Yandabas”, on Thursday August 7, 2025, claimed ,the life of Sadiq Gentle,  Special Assistant on Media to Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf.

Gentle, who was  attached to the Ministry of History and Culture,  succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent attack on him by some hoodlums on Thursday morning of August 7, 2025 .

He died at the Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital where he was receiving treatment following the dastardly attack at his residence .

The attackers suspected to be members of the Yandaba group,  inflicted several machete cuts on him during  the attack. A visibly distraught close professional colleague of the deceased, Mujitaba Muhammad Auwal, stated that Gentle died before a scheduled surgery to save his life.

He informed that the condition of  the victim , worsened on Wednesday after the first surgery , prompting the plan for the  second which was not performed before his death.

Governor Yusuf , while reacting to the sad incident , expressed deep shock and sorrow over the fate that befell his media aide.

In a statement, signed on his behalf by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa ,the Governor described Gentle as a dedicated ,loyal and patriotic social media professional ” whose violent death has cast a dark cloud over the state Government and the media community”

He said: ” The news of the death of Malam Sadiq Gentle hit me with deep sadness and anguish

” He was not only a devoted public servant ,but also a man of peace and integrity ,who served the state with utmost.dedication .

“His gruesome murder is a tragedy and affront to our collective humanity.”

While strongly condemning the incident , the Governor urged security agencies to spare nothing in order to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
