Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has doled out the Sum ₦1 million to each of the 39 soldiers injured while serving under Operation Udoka, a Security Task Force established to combat criminal activity in the South-East.
The Governor has donated the sum to the wounded Soldiers, showering encomiums on the bravery of troops from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Security Services, DSS, Civil Fefence, Police, and Anambra’s Local Agunaechemba Security Unit.
He emphasized the government’s support for the wounded Soldiers, stating they would receive free treatment in State-run hospitals in addition to the financial gift.
“Today, we share a special Sallah meal with the gallant officers of the Nigerian Army.
“Your commitment to keeping Anambra and the South-east safe through Operation Udoka is commendable.
“The criminals are on the run, and we believe their days are numbered.”
He appreciated the contributions of the GOC, saying security efforts are producing tangible results in towns like Ihiala, Mbosi, Isseke, and Lilu.
In his welcome remarks, Maj. Gen. Olatoye described the gathering as a celebration of unity, service, and reflection, praising the troops’ resilience and professionalism in tough conditions.
The Chief of Army Staff, through his representative, lauded the dedication of the soldiers, emphasizing their critical role in national security. He highlighted a recent major operation in which troops seized a truck carrying over 6,600 weapons and rounds of ammunition as proof of their effectiveness.
The luncheon reinforced the Military’s commitment to peace and the importance of partnerships between security forces and civilian authorities.
