Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have ordered the newly sworn-in 20 Local Government Chairmen and 37 Local Council Development Area Chairmen in Lagos State not to make any Political Appointments.
The Governor stated that they are only permitted, for now, to appoint only their Chiefs of Staff, CoS.
The order was contained in a memo issued on Thursday, 31, July, 2025, which was addressed to all the Council Chairmen.
The memo titled: ‘Appointment of Political Office Holders’ was signed by Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The memo also ordered the Council Chairmen to cancel all other appointments apart from that of the Chief of Staff with immediate effect.
