As some States announce commencement of payment of N70,000 new minimum wage, Ekiti State has announced setting up of a negotiation committee.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji approved a 13-member negotiation committee to carry out the assignment.
A statement on Sunday by the Special Adviser media to the governor, Yinka Oyebode stated that the committee will meet with organized labour preparatory to the commencement of the minimum wage payment in the state.
This is sequel to the signing of the minimum wage law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on July 30th, 2024.
The negotiation committee, which comprises of government officials and leadership of the organized labour, is headed by the Head of Service, Folakemi Olomojobi.
With the setting up of the committee, public servants in the state will still have to wait for the implementation of the new wage and commencement date.
There have been agitations among civil servants in the state over the commencement date for implementation of the new wage, especially those that are expected to retire before the end of the year.
