Gov Yusuf Nominates Removed Chief Of Staff, Five Others Commissioners

Barely five days after he was relieved of the powerful office of  Chief of Staff, Shehu Sagagi has been nominated Commissioner – designate.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf ,on Monday, December, 16, 2024, sent the name of Sagagi and five others  to the State House of Assembly for screening and possible confirmation.

The Source reports that the Governor had, on Thursday, December 12, not only  sacked Sagagi ,but also scrapped the office of the Chief of Staff. It was the first time the State  would have  a CoS since the advent of the democratic dispensation in 1999.

His predecessors had made use of Principal Staff Secretaries.

Governor Yusuf, also, in the major cabinet reshuffle, announced in a statement by his Media aide Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa  dropped five Commissioners, as well as the Secretary to the state Government, SSG, Abdullahi Bichi.

The Governor said the reshuffling exercise was to rejig the cabinet for  a more efficient service delivery.

The exercise similarly involved the reassignment of some Commissioners to different Ministries.

Those dropped from the Executive Council apart from the SSG and Chief of staff include the Commissioner for Information and former Nigerian Guild of Editors President, Baba Halilu Dantiye ,and four others.

The Governor however directed all those relieved of their appointments to report to his office for possible reassignment.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Ismail Falgore, read the letter of nomination during plenary on Monday.

Others on the new nomination list aside the former Chief of Staff are Dr Ismail Dan Maraya ,Gaddafi Shehu ,Abdulkadir  Abdulsalam ,Dr Dahiru Hashim,and Ibrahim Wayya.
