Kwankwasiyya leader and former Governor of Kano state, has declared that he’s unperturbed over the recent defection of his political godson, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano state.
The former governor spoke on Sunday in a post he shared on his Facebook page while receiving a massive crowd of supporters under the the Kwankwasiyya Movement who paid a solidarity visit to him at his residence in the state.
His remark comes barely three days after Governor Yusuf left the NNPP for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC citing crisis in the party he rode to the State Government House barely three years ago.
Kwakwanso praised them for being principled, and for supporting the truth adding that he will continue to work for the interest of the state.
He wrote: “I was honoured to receive a solidarity visit at my residence in Kano from the resilient people of Nasarawa Local Government.
“Together, we remain resolute in upholding and advancing the timeless ideals of Kwankwasiyya. The journey continues, and victory is assured by the grace of God and the will of the people.”
Last Thursday, Governor Yusuf governor, who has been engaged in a crisis of confidence with his political mentor for months defected to the APC, thus ending speculations over his political future in the NNPP upon which platform he rode to power in 2023, through the assistance of Kwakwanso.
Following the governor’s defection, not a few Nigerians insist that the battle line has now been drawn between the two former political allies now turned foes ahead the 2027 election. .
A massive crowd of supporters from Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, on Thursday, paid a solidarity visit to former Kano State governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, at his residence in Kano.
Kwankwaso disclosed the visit in a Facebook post on Sunday, describing the supporters as resilient and courageous, especially in the face of recent political developments that have tested the loyalty of party faithful.
According to him, the delegation reaffirmed its commitment to the ideals of Kwankwasiyya, stressing that their support was driven not by personal interests but by the desire for collective progress and the wellbeing of the people.
“I was honoured to receive a solidarity visit at my residence in Kano from the resilient people of Nasarawa Local Government,” Kwankwaso said.
He commended the supporters for remaining steadfast despite recent challenges, noting that their determination underscored the enduring strength of the movement.
Kwankwaso assured them that the vision and principles of Kwankwasiyya would continue to be upheld and advanced, adding that the movement remains focused on serving the people.
